DAY 1 After arriving to Puerto Montt you’ll be taken to Puerto Varas. Explore the town’s German influenced streets along the volcano-rimmed shores of Lago Llanquihue.
DAY 2 Ferry to Chiloe—known for its folklore, craftsmen, seafood and natural beauty—visiting traditional markets and a penguin colony before having dinner at a local family’s quaint farmhouse. Set sail aboard Cahuella into the snow-capped Andean peaks and rolling green islands of the Chiloe Archipelago.
DAY 3 Awake to the Patagonian sunrise. Stop to visit remote Mechuque Island trying a glass of chicha, an apple wine favored by islanders. Explore the village streets, meet curious locals and photograph the colorful palafito stilt houses.
DAY 4 Make port at the tiny village of San Juan, where you’ll visit a 140-year-old wooden church recently made a UNESCO World Heritage
site and learn of Chiloe’s interesting fusion of Jesuit and local beliefs. Watch boat builders practice their time-honored craft.
DAY 5 Head deeper into Patagonia, through the Comao and Cahuelmo fjords and into 800,000-acre Pumalin National Park. Watch for sea lions, dolphins and condors as you cruise amongst glacial-fed waterfalls, enormous granite walls and temperate rainforest.
DAY 6 Take Cahuella’s zodiac up river and into the temperate rainforest. Hike to a thermal-heated river, and soak in the many natural pools. Return for one last gourmet dinner aboard Cahuella.
DAY 7 Arrive to picturesque Horniopiren Volcano in the afternoon and drive amongst the Andes via the Austral Highway, returning to Puerto Varas for the night.
DAY 8 Transfer to Puerto Montt and depart.
